Hydraulic rod seals for internal sealing
Rod seals are among the most important sealing elements in a hydraulic system. They seal the system on the rod side and are exposed to the full operating pressure of the application.
If a rod seal no longer functions properly, this usually becomes immediately visible through leakage. This makes the right selection critical – depending on installation position, sliding speed, pressure load, medium, and temperature.

Rod seals from INNSEALS
Rod seals are used in hydraulic cylinders to seal the system internally at the piston rod. They prevent hydraulic fluid from escaping from the cylinder and are therefore critical for the tightness and function of the entire system.
Because rod seals are directly exposed to the operating pressure, the profile, material, and installation situation must be precisely matched to the application. An incorrectly selected or worn rod seal quickly leads to leakage and should be replaced immediately.
Rod seals in the hydraulic sealing system
Rod seals work together in the system with wipers, guide elements, and other sealing elements. The wiper protects against external contamination, guide elements stabilize the piston rod, and the rod seal provides pressure-side sealing.
Only the right combination of these components ensures reliable function, low leakage, and a long service life of the hydraulic cylinder.

Your FAQs answered
Frequently asked questions:
Hydraulic rod seals seal the piston rod to the outside. They prevent hydraulic fluid from escaping from the cylinder and simultaneously protect against the ingress of dirt.
Rod seals are needed whenever a piston rod is led out of the cylinder. They are essential for safe and clean external sealing.
Yes, wear or damage frequently leads to visible leakage. This can not only reduce efficiency but also affect the environment and adjacent components.
Rod seals seal to the outside, while piston seals maintain pressure within the cylinder between two chambers. Both perform different tasks in the hydraulic system.
