Gamma Seals

Axial Rotary Seals for Protection Against Contamination

Gamma seals from INNSEALS are used in power transmission systems, hydraulic applications and rotating assemblies. They are also known by terms such as RB axial rings, axial seals, deflector rings, flingers, gamma rings or gamma seals.

The design consists of an outer metal housing in which an 80-durometer nitrile sealing lip is embedded. The seal is designed to rotate with the shaft while maintaining its sealing function – in both dynamic and static applications.

Gamma seals from INNSEALS

Gamma seals are axial rotary seals used primarily to protect shaft seals, bearings and rotating components. They work in a similar way to V-rings and help keep dirt, dust, moisture and other contaminants away from the actual sealing point.

Design and Function of Gamma Seals

A gamma seal combines an elastomeric sealing lip with a stable outer metal housing. The sealing lip provides the sealing function, while the housing offers protection and dimensional stability.

The seal is designed for rotary applications and can maintain its function even during movement. This makes it suitable for both dynamic and static operating conditions.

Your FAQs answered

Frequently asked questions:

Gamma seals are special shaft seals that frequently consist of a combination of metal and elastomer. They are used primarily to reliably protect bearing positions against dirt, dust and moisture.

Use is particularly appropriate in applications with high contamination or difficult environmental conditions. They provide additional protection when standard seals are insufficient.

Yes, gamma seals are specifically designed to prevent the ingress of dirt and water. This significantly increases the service life of bearings and machines.

Compared to classic shaft seals, gamma seals offer a stronger focus on protective functions. They often act as an additional barrier against external influences.

Yes, many gamma seals are designed for rotating applications. However, the exact suitability depends on the design and operating conditions.
